Life Update: Back to New York

We were home for two weeks from our last big trip before we took off again. Nicole graduated from nursing school a week after we got home so we were able to make it to her graduation. She passed the NCLEX a few weeks later and is a licensed nurse! Save some lives, Cole! When she’s not busy working, she’s off fighting fires. So proud of you, Colebear! A few evenings later, RJ and I drove down to Chico to the fair. We had a grand ol’ time riding some of the rides. And then it was time to pack again. And off we flew to New York City for a couple weeks. We had a little Airbnb in Brooklyn. RJ spent most of his days at the office and I explored more of the city and drank coffee, of course. (If my family holds an intervention for me, I won’t be surprised.) We ate good food and rode all over Brooklyn and Manhattan on the city bicycles after RJ got off work for the day....

RJ and Em Life Update: New York, the Camp Fire, and a Kitchen Remodel

Hi friends! Em here. Our blog has been dark for quite awhile. But here I am to post an update on life and what’s been happening the past half a year or so. Our posts stopped in the middle of our last trip to Alaska. I hope to one day finish writing about our Alaska trip in the near future as that was one of our favorite trips we have taken and the most beautiful pictures. But first, a little about what’s been happening with us since we last blogged. We got back from Alaska at the end of June and spent the summer wake surfing and soaking up the sun. The end of August we packed our suitcases and flew to New York City. Bighead Technology is working for a company based in NYC and wanted to know if RJ could fly out to work in the office. So, off we went to the Big Apple. RJ spent a majority of the time at the office while I sought out good coffee shops, rode the subway to random stops, and...

Summer 2017

Our summer has flown by! We’ve been busy working and, of course, having a lot of fun.  We were gone almost the entire month of May on our motorcycle trip and got home just in time to drive to Sacramento to pick up Nicole whom was studying abroad in Costa Rica for nine months. She is back to work at the hospital and is starting her first semester of nursing school. A day later, Sam graduated from High School. She’s taking CNA class this summer and plans to continue her schooling to become a doctor of some sort. It keeps changing… June 9th, my best friend got married and I was lucky to stand by her side and watch her sign “I do” to her new best friend. They moved 8 hours away to the beach but that just means we’ll get to take more motorcycle trips to the coast. RJ jests that we’ll never see them again. We spent many of our summer days on the lake...

Nasty Motel

By on Jul 15, 2017 in Adventure & Travel, Life | 0 comments

Recap: In the previous blog, we drove from New Orleans to Baton Rouge where we sat inside a McDonalds for four hours. Eventually, we made our way towards Austin, TX. We had planned to drive all the way to Austin but due to work, we were only in Houston by 9:30pm. We debated whether to drive another three hours in the dark to Austin or find a campsite or hotel in Houston. Since, we were already on a longer stint than our normal weekend trips, we weren’t fond of the idea of setting up a tent in the dark and having to pack up again. Needless to say, we were in the market for a cheap motel. After a quick search on yelp, we found one on the outskirts of town for about fifty bucks. We knew it wasn’t going to be anything great but it would give us a place to sleep for the night. As we were pulling into the motel, RJ noticed an adjacent establishment that advertised an entire $5...

Life With Us

Welcome! Thanks for tuning in as we share with you a glimpse of our lives and our many crazy adventures. RJ and I … To say we love adventure is an understatement. From jumping on the motorcycle at midnight to grab pizza in 25* weather or planning a trip to visit every US capital, we love it. We have so many stories like this, I figured I might as well blog about them. But first, a few fun facts about us— FAST FACTS: – RJ and I have been married for a little over a year and a half. We are loving every minute of it, even though he still hogs the entire bed and I still hate doing the dishes but hey… marriage. – RJ is a software developer. Working in the family business along side his dad, RJ can access his work anywhere as long as he has his laptop and wifi. He loves his work and even in his free time, RJ likes to program. – I, on the other hand,...
