Monday, April 22 – Thursday, April 25
We spent the next four days at my grandparent’s house. We ladies found all kinds of things to keep busy with while Grandpa and RJ were working. I had a great time galavanting around town and the country side with Grandma and Maria in the van. We set a puzzle, played card games and ate out a couple times. I got to see a lot of my old school friends so that was really awesome.
We packed up and left Grandpa’s Thursday evening after supper. RJ had been route planning earlier that day and figured out that we could be home close to two weeks earlier if we got a bit of a head start. With the weekend hours or lack there of for some capitol buildings, it’s tricky trying to plan the route and make sure we get everywhere we need to be in the right amount of time. So I quickly did a load of wash and packed everything up that afternoon. After supper and a few more great jokes from Maria, we said our goodbyes and hopped on the bike for the next leg of our trip.

Friday, April 26
We spent the night in Eastern Kansas in a janky little motel.
We woke up early and drove to Jefferson City, Missouri and parked right outside the capitol building. It was under an extensive remodel so I wasn’t able to get any good pictures of the outside. But the inside was still open to visitors so we walked inside and were surrounded by groups of elementary school kids on their field trip.
We stamped our capitol book and walked around the building. The Senate and House had adjourned for the day but we were able to walk into the rooms and up to the gallery. The dome is only open to school tours or special tours so we weren’t able to go all the way to the top.
After viewing the different floors, we headed out and drove to a coffee shop where RJ got a few hours of work done while I looked for a place to stay the night a few hours away from Kentucky’s capitol, Frankfurt.
And then, the part that gives RJ major stress and puts him in a bad mood- finding that coffee mug. Luckily, I found one right away and there wasn’t an issue with our marriage.
We found an interesting restaurant to grab a bite to eat before we drove out of Jefferson City. It was set up to look kind of like a prison. Not really sure they nailed it but it was interesting non the less.
Then we hopped back on the bike to drive for another couple hours before stopping for the night at a hotel close to the Kentucky border.
