Jackson, Mississippi

We woke up beside the Mayes Lake in LeFluer’s Bluff State Park, Mississippi. It was already getting hot and muggy at 7am so we packed everything up as fast as we could. RJ headed to the bathroom for his morning tinkle where he ended up making a friend with a dude who was also on a motorcycle trip. That boy has gotta learn to stop talking to strangers when he pees. Once he finished telling me all about his new friend, we headed over to the Jackson Capitol building. It was a short and unmemorable drive to the landmark. By this point in our adventure, we’ve lowered all expectations for parking near the capitol building; however, we were fortunate in this instance. After finishing our usual routine of removing our gear, evaluating the possibility of being ransacked by passersby, and then consequently locking up our helmets, we headed towards the capitol. Little Rock, Arkansas

…The next morning we packed up our gear and made our way to the Arkansas capital. An hour later we were in downtown Little Rock looking for a place to park.  The building was empty give or take a few employees and two guys in dress clothes walking laps at a fast pace on the second floor for exercise. We walked into the gift shop where we got our stamp and found our cheapest coffee mug yet. But in the end it actually cost us the most money. Stay tuned. The gift shop lady was very nice; she asked us where we were from and how many states we had visited so far. She had visited a lot of the capitols and let us know that the Arizona capitol was not worth visiting and New Mexico’s was interesting as well. We thanked her for the information and exited the building, talking about all the fun and interesting people we had met so far.  From Little Rock we made our way to...

Oklahoma City

It was a bittersweet morning as we loaded up the bike to depart from Grandpa’s for the last time. RJ washed the bike, I cleaned the helmets and made sure everything was packed. Grandma was trying to feed us anything and everything- toast, eggs, orange juice, coffee, dessert, leftovers, … trash (jk, only the best from Grandma). She packed us cookies and water bottles for our journey. Grandpa, Grandma, and Aunt Maria had all stayed home from church to see us off and wish us safe travels. After big tight hugs and another “Are you sure I can’t feed you anything else?”, we were on our way to Oklahoma City. The drive was roughly five hours with not a lot of scenery along the way. It was reminiscent of the Utah desert mixed with the rolling hills of Nebraska. We talked about our time in Montezuma, setting puzzles with Grandpa and listening to Aunt Maria’s...
